Renée Watson, an author, has launched a campaign on Indiegogo’s generosity platform. Through this crowdfunding venture, she hopes to raise $150,000 for a creative arts center called the I, Too, Arts Collective.
NPR reports that Watson and her supporters aim to lease the former Harlem home of the legendary African American writer Langston Hughes for this nonprofit organization. We’ve embedded a video about the project above.

This is not just for nostalgic reasons. I see a need for young people to know about and understand the legacy they are a part of; the artists and activists who paved the way for them.
