9780446539258_94X145.jpgAfter the NY Times published two articles looking at a leaked copy of Ted Kennedy’s embargoed autobiography, Hachette Book Group has hired a private detective.

According to the NY Observer, “all hell broke loose” at the publisher when the NY Times wrote about the memoir eleven days before the books scheduled release, and a detective has been deployed to investigate the literary mystery. Hachette will put out 1.5 million copies of Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s posthumously-published book, “True Compass.”

Here’s more from the article: “officials at Hachette have taken the rare step of hiring a private investigator to look into how the leaks occurred. Hachette corporate spokeswoman Sophie Cottrell confirmed that a P.I. was on the case, but would not elaborate on his or her identity or specific objective.”
