Hachette Book Group Revenues Up 6% in 2013

hachetteHachette Book Group (HBG) reported today that its full year net revenues were up 6 percent in 2013. The company attributed the sales increase to high performing titles. During the year, the publisher broke its bestsellers record, as 206 print and 84 eBook titles made the New York Times bestseller list, including 52 No.1 bestsellers.

HBG’s releases for the year included:  The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith, aka J.K. Rowling; The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks; Alex Cross, Run by James Patterson and David Ellis; David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell; The Hit by David Baldacci; and The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt.

HBG reported that digital sales in the U.S., which includes eBook and audiobook sales, grew 33 percent in 2013. This category continues to grow, as it represented 33 percent of net sales in 2013, up from 26 percent in 2012.
