Groupon and Barnes & Noble have teamed up for a special coupon deal, taking a page from Amazon’s playbook–for the price of a $10 coupon, you can buy $20 worth of books. More than 47,000 people have already bought the coupon since the deal launched at 3 p.m. yesterday on Groupon Chicago. The deal has spread across the country as well, from Groupon New York to Groupon Los Angeles.
Last month, Amazon launched the same offer with LivingSocial. The online bookseller sold 1,301,296 gift cards in a single day using the discount coupon site. Editor’s Note: This article was updated as the story evolved.
