Grace Lin Speaks at TEDxNatick

By Maryann Yin

Grace Lin, a Newbery Honor winner, gave a talk at the TEDxNatick conference to discuss “The Windows and Mirrors of Your Child’s Bookshelf.” We’ve embedded the full presentation in the video above—what do you think?

During her talk, Lin shared several personal anecdotes from her childhood. She feels that home libraries should feature a diverse array of books; she stresses that all children need access to stories that serve as both “windows and mirrors.”

In the past, several children’s books authors have spoken on the TED stage including A Long Walk to Water novelist Linda Sue ParkPaper Towns author John Green, and Lunch Lady series creator Jarrett J. Krosoczka. What books did you enjoy when you were a kid? (via The JJK Blog)
