Glenn Beck: Advertisers Flee, Audience Flocks

By Jason Boog

0511book.jpgEven though advertisers have bailed out of Glenn Beck’s television show on Fox News, the conservative author has posted his best ratings ever on the cable news network.

On today’s Morning Media Menu, the conversation revolved around this recent rise in conservative ratings–an audience that loves to buy books. Earlier this year, Beck signed a “a global multi-book, multi-imprint co-publishing agreement” with Simon & Schuster. He will have three titles this year: adult hardcover “Arguing with Idiots,” audiobook original “America’s March Toward Socialism,” and e-book and trade paperback original “Glenn Beck’s Common Sense.”

The morning show also discussed airport-based literary promotion, last week’s rising ratings at Fox News, and how Hunter S. Thompson almost covered the O.J. Simpson trial for a San Francisco paper.
