Get Your Cartoon On: Or, His New Filming Technique Is Unstoppable

There’s a word of dialogue that might make this video NSFW, but it’s bleeped out.

When David Rees started posting the Get Your War On comic strips online, less than a month after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, his sharply cynical take on the War on Terror immediately attracted a solid readership, leading to book deals first with Soft Skull Press and then Riverhead and, this fall, back to Soft Skull. While we’re waiting for that third book to come out, though, the animators at Flat Light Films (the production comany behind Charles Schwab’s “Talk to Chuck” campaign) have brought Rees’s clip art collection to life with an ongoing series of short cartoons produced for the Huffington Post‘s 23/6 humor site.

The voices are about what I’ve imagined in my head over the last seven years, but it’s really kinda weird to see those familiar red-lined figures in motion. On the other hand, I love the tagline Rees delivers in yesterday’s press release: “Anyone who enjoys Jib-Jab animations will have a nervous breakdown watching these things.”
