As fans of A Song of Ice and Fire know, Martin will pen two more installments to wrap up his popular book series. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the writer explained that the forthcoming fourth season is actually based on the second half of book three A Storm of Swords.

Should Game of Thrones continue in the future, Martin will consult with creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff to split books four and five, A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, to prolong its story. He also noted other popular TV shows, Mad Men and Breaking Bad, did not suffer from a “hiatus inserted in the middle of the final season” so that is another option.

Last year, Martin gave his fans a sneak peek at book six The Winds of Winter. Follow this link to read the excerpt. What do you think?
