Gawker will soon allow its readers to create a blog inside its network of websites. As you can see at the newly redesigned Jalopnik site, commenters can already set up a personal blog through its Kinja platform.
If you have an account, you will be able to republish Jalopnik stories and the blog network can republish your work. Eventually, when all the Gawker sites have the same set of tools, they will use Kinja to “look for the next generation of writers” for the network. Here’s more from Jalopnik:
First, you’ll notice it’s hosted on whateveryouchoose.kinja.com (you can see me at matthardigree.kinja.com). This is the hub at the center of our wheel. Your personal Kinja blog will automatically record all the comments you make but if you’ve got no real desire to do anything but reply to the occasional article, you can stop here. If you’ve always wanted to do more keep reading. You’ll also notice your Kinja blog has the ability to compose. This is so you can use your page like an actual blog, creating original content to be shared, commented on, and viewed by others in the community … All blogs are created equal. Your blog will look similar to our flagship sites and will have all the same tools, including image annotation … If we do republish something you created you’ll get the byline, the credit, and it’ll be clear where it came from.
If you want to set up your own account, you need to click the “login” button at the upper right hand of the Jalopnik page to sign up through Twitter, Facebook or Google. Be sure to read the terms of service first.
