Gabriel García Márquez Denies Rumors

By Jason Boog

marquez.jpgResponding to rumors that he will not publish again, author Gabriel García Márquez told a Colombian newspaper reporter: “”My job is to write, not to publish … I’ll know when the pastries that I have in the oven are ready for the eating.”

The Nobel Prize-winning writer of “One Hundred Years of Solitude” said last year he was grappling with a new novel.

Here’s more from the story: “when the author answered the phone call from El Tiempo, he said: ‘Call me later. I’m busy writing.’ With the typical grumpiness which he has been known to treat reporters in recent years, Garcia Marquez finally agreed to answer two questions from the newspaper.” (Via MobyLives)
