French Book Editor Ariane Fasquelle Has Died

Ariane Fasquelle, head of foreign acquisitions with French publisher Grasset & Fasquelle, has died.

Fasquelle was the French editor for many renowned international authors including: Isabel Allende, T.C. Boyle, Umberto Eco, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Fasquelle was born into the publishing business. Her  great grandfather founded Editions Fasquelle and was the publisher of Grasset & Fasquelle from 1981 to 2000. Fasquelle died on Tuesday after a long illness.

“Ariane was beloved by everyone in house and respected by all on the international publishing scene. Her courage was admirable and she will be deeply missed,” said Olivier Nora, Publisher of Grasset & Fasquelle in a statement.
