Four New Hires at Scholastic

A number of publishing promotions and job changes were announced this week.

Scholastic has hired Katrina Krantz as director of digital marketing, Caite Panzer as director of rights and global publishing strategy, Kelly Smith as senior editor for nonfiction, and Michael del Rosario as managing editor.

The company has also promoted fifteen staff members.

Within its trade publishing division, the following people have received promotions: Elizabeth Whiting (director, mass market sales), Karen Lo (director, trade finance), Janelle DeLuise (associate director, rights & co-editions), Dan Moser (manager, special sales), Walter Olalekan (business manager, trade finance), Candace Greene (assistant marketing manager), Katie Carella (senior editor), and Emma Brockway (associate publicist).

Over at the corporate communications department, the following people have also received promotions: Sara Sinek (vice president, corporate communications), Morgan Baden (senior director, internal communications), Anne Sparkman (manager, corporate communications), Chris Johnson (senior producer, intranet and special projects), Megan Kaesshaefer (manager, social media and special projects), Lia Zneimer (writer, producer, internal communications and social media), and Kristen Joerger (senior digital publicist, corporate communications).

In other corners of the publishing world, Jennifer Baumgardner has been named the publisher and executive director of the Feminist Press. She has published six books and written for several publications including GlamourHarper’s Bazaar, and The New York Times.

ABRAMS has brought on Kate Lesko as a marketing assistant. Katrina Weidknecht has left the company; she worked as the executive director of publicity.

The publishing house has also made some major changes for five of its current staff members. Veronica Wasserman will serve as brand director of Diary of a Wimpy KidClaire Bamundo jumps over to the adult department as the director of publicity and brand strategy. Jennifer Brunn moves up to senior director of publicity. Marisa Dobson is now senior publicist. Merle Brown, the executive assistant to the CEO, will also take on the role of corporate events manager.

The Lambda Literary Foundation has established its board leaders for the year 2013. Author S. Chris Shirley has been named president, San Diego library commissioner Susan Atkins is now vice president, writer Sue Greer will retain the role of secretary, and Union Bank manager J. Michael Samuel will continue as treasurer.
