Former ABA President Inks Book Deal

Len Vlahos, a former president of the American Booksellers Association (ABA), has inked a book deal with Bloomsbury Children’s for his third children’s book.

The YA novel Life in a Fishbowl, is about a girl whose father lists his life for sale online after finding out he is dying of cancer. The book, which drops in January, is based on a real man that sold all of his possession on eBay to cope with getting a divorce. The Bookseller has the scoop:

“I wondered what would drive someone to do this,” said Vlahos. “I wanted to look at the family but also all the people who bid on for Jackie’s father’s life. Even the brain tumour is a character in the story.

“It’s not a cancer novel but it does cover some heavy issues. I’d say it’s for readers aged 14 and up but it definitely crosses over. It could have been published as an adult book.”
