The Bookseller reports that Globe Pequot has bought travel publisher Footprint for an undisclosed sum. The move sees the US-based publisher return to the UK after selling Cadogan Guides to New Holland in April. Footprint, an independent Bath based company, has been publishing travel guides since the first edition of the South American Handbook was created in 1924. It has been majority-owned since the late 1990s by David Teale, who was the firm’s non-executive chairman.

Andy Riddle, managing director of Footprint said: “This is an important move for us and we are delighted by the prospect of working with Globe Pequot. They are a like-minded independent publisher with stacks of experience and ambition in the travel market. We will benefit from a stronger presence within the US, whilst providing our new parent company with a solid base from which they can extend their international operations.”
