My Book of Color Feature of the Day is HOLD LOVE STRONG, which although not written by an author of color, Matthew Aaron Goodman, is an evocative novel that features a family of Black American heritage. It tells the story of Abraham Singleton who struggles with the life of a family whose strong-fast love battles with the environment’s desire to tear it apart.
A coming-of-age tale, HOLD LOVE STRONG was written from the perspective of an author who has worked in inner-city communities for years. He has also worked closely with formerly incarcerated men and women and understands deeply how that effects families of color.
