Escape from New York: Freelance Dispatch

By Jason Boog

GalleyCat spends way too much time in New York City.

Taking advantage of an unexpected trip home, we interviewed Greg Baldino–a Michigan-based author, writing teacher, and bookstore worker. In this lo-fi video dispatch, Baldino discussed the state of Michigan letters, including: freelancing, National Novel Writing Month, the death of ‘zines, Schuler Books, and how writing culture in Lansing has changed during the recession.

We’d love to escape from New York on a more regular basis. If you are interested in discussing the state of writing in your city or town, email GalleyCat with your thoughts.
