The Eric Carle Museum has unveiled the recipients of the 2011  Carle Honors.

Caldecott-winning author and illustrator Lois Ehlert has been named the “Artist” honoree. Children’s books editor Michael di Capua has been named the “Mentor” honoree. Eric Carle Museum donor Jeanne Steig has been named the “Angel” honoree. University of Minnesota’s Children’s Literature Research Collections curator Karen Nelson Hoyle has been named the “Bridge” honoree.

They will be recognized for their contributions to children’s literature at the September 22nd ceremony in New York City.

Here’s more from the press release: “The awards recognize individuals in four distinct forms: Artist, for lifelong innovation in the field; Mentor, editors, designers, and educators who champion the art form; Angel, whose generous financial support is crucial to making picture book art exhibitions, education programs, and related projects a reality; and Bridge, individuals who have found inspired ways to bring the art of the picture book to larger audiences through work in other fields.”
