Elliot Right Way Bought by Constable & Robinson

The Bookseller reports that Constable & Robinson has acquired fellow independent publisher Elliot Right Way Books for an undisclosed sum. Elliot Right Way, founded in 1944 by Andrew George Elliot, publishes the Right Way and Clarion paperback lists covering “how to” subjects from cookery, games and pastimes to music, art and business. Both the Right Way and Clarion imprints will be continued under Constable & Robinson. The Right Way and Clarion stock will move to TBS in July.

Negotiations between Constable & Robinson and Elliot Right Way owners Clive and Malcolm Elliot have taken place over the last 18 months. “It was a slow process, but I think Malcolm and Clive are very comfortable with the deal,” Constable & Robinson publisher Nick Robinson said. Malcolm Elliot will continue in a consultancy role, while Clive Elliot is retiring to pursue non-publishing interests.
