Elizabeth L. Post–Emily Post’s Literary Heir–Has Died

epostpic.pngAuthor Elizabeth L. Post, the 89-year-old author who carried on the literary legacy of etiquette expert Emily Post, passed away over the weekend.

After Emily died in 1960, Elizabeth (pictured, via) authored over 12 books about etiquette over the next 30 years, most notably, five new editions of Emily Post’s Etiquette and Emily Post’s Complete Book of Wedding Etiquette. In addition to her books, Elizabeth also wrote columns for Good Housekeeping magazine and newspapers. Since 1990, Peggy Post has carried on the literary legacy of Emily Post. Here’s a quote from Elizabeth, from her Emily Post Institute obituary: “Etiquette is meant to smooth the path between people to better relationships … It isn’t meant to be something restrictive or unpleasant.”
