Elizabeth Jane Howard Has Died

howardElizabeth Jane Howard, the novelist that created The Cazalet Chronicles, has died. She was 90 years old.

The BBC has the story: “Her publicist of nearly 40 years, Jackie Graham confirmed to the BBC that she died ‘peacefully – after a short illness’ at home in Bungay, Suffolk this afternoon.”

Howard wrote fourteen novels including The Cazalet Chronicle series. Books in the series include: The Light Years, Marking Time, Confusion and Casting Off. These books have been adapted for a BBC television series as well as for BBC Radio 4. In November 2013, the fifth novel in the Cazelet Chronicle All Change was published.In 2002, her autobiography Slipstream came out. The same year she won a CBE in Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday Honours List.
