Elin Hilderbrand Opens Up About Her Cancer Battle

ErinWriter Elin Hilderbrand published a long piece in The Huffington Post today about her current battle with cancer.

Hilderbrand (pictured, via) received her diagnosis one month before the release of her latest book, The Matchmaker. In an ironic turn of events, one of the protagonists from that novel, Dabney Kimball Beech, also battles this disease. In her essay, Hilderbrand revealed how she discovered her sickness and how she plans to treat it. Here is an excerpt:

“I told myself that if I could write a character like Dabney, then I could be like Dabney. I would accept the fact that my body and its current failings were my own, and I would fight and I would smile and I would do everything in my power to live to write thirteen more novels and sit on my throne and let the ocean lap at my feet.”
