E.L. James Collaborates with Winemakers for Two ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Wines

By Maryann Yin

wineWondering how to pass the time until the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is released next August?

The Huffington Post reports author E.L. James collaborated with a team of California winemakers to create two Fifty Shades-themed wines. The Red Satin is made from a blend of Petite Sirah and Syrah grapes while the White Silk is a mixture of Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

James had this statement on the website:

Wine plays an important role in Fifty Shades of Grey, reflecting the sensuality that pervades every encounter between Anastasia and Christian.  I’ve always had a penchant for good wine, so helping to create the blends Red Satin and White Silk felt like a natural extension of the Fifty Shades trilogy. I hope all of you curl up with a glass to savor the romance and the passion.

Focus Features plans to release a film adaptation of the first book in August 2014. Actors Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam will star in this movie. For those who haven’t read the trilogy, check out the Seuss-ian style poetic summary of the story by Reddit user Traceofbass.
