At left, the paperback for Don’t Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings, the bestselling humor book from Tyler Perry, writing in the voice of his popular Madea character. At right, stand-up comedian Mary R. Butler, you should pardon the pun, drags out her costumed persona “Mama Peavy” for the cover of her self-published* Mama Peavy Says, “Women, It’s OK to Marry an Ugly Man”. All we need now is for somebody to track down the book rights to The Devil Made Me Buy This Dress and we’re all set!

*Although Butler is listed as the registrant for the Green Olive Tree Publishing domain name, and she’s the only author published by the company, it should be acknowledged that the website promises several more “Christian-inspired works of fiction and non-fiction” later in the year.
