Penguin Young Readers announced plans to publish a series of mash-up picture books inspired by Doctor Who television show and Roger Hargreaves’ Mr. Men books. This series was developed through a partnership between BBC Worldwide and Sanrio Global Ltd.
Jan Paterson, the head of book and audio publishing at BBC Worldwide, gave this statement in the press release: “We are thrilled to be teaming up with Sanrio on this fantastic project and think that fans will love these creative incarnations of the Doctor reimagined in the ‘Hargreaves’ style. We’re always looking for innovative ways to engage our fans so this is the perfect partnership for us.”
Adam Hargreaves, Roger’s son, created the illustrations for these books. A total of twelve books, one for each actor who has played the titular character, will be published. The first four titles will be released in Spring 2017.
