hclo2god.gifDick Wolf, the creator and executive producer of the NBC series, Law & Order, has signed a two-book deal with HarperCollins’ imprint, William Morrow. Executive editor David Highfill acquired the exclusive submission from Richard Abate at 3 Arts Entertainment. In his acquisition, Highfill bought the World English, eBook, and Audio rights. Wolf’s agent, Peter Benedek (United Talent Agency) and lawyer, Cliff Gilbert-Lurie, also negotiated this deal.

The first novel is not yet titled, but HarperCollins’ press release compares the basic plot to two popular films, Sydney Pollack‘s Three Days of the Condor and Fred Zinnemann‘s The Day of the Jackal. It will feature a realistic story with a terrorist attack scheme in New York City, featuring the Joint Terrorism Task Force and a special NYPD detective.

Highfill offered this quote about Wolf: “As he has shown us in the authenticity and freshness of his TV work, Dick Wolf is a master of tightly woven, character-driven American stories that feel like they are happening right in front of you, right now, not last week or last year. He will bring just that sense of heightened immediacy and drama to this new novel.”
