Denise Brown Ditches Oprah’s If I Did It Show

Denise Brown has issued a statement indicating that she will no longer be appearing on the Oprah show with Fred and Kim Goldman on September 13, as has been previously announced. “At the time of accepting this proposition from Oprah, a publisher was not yet established and publication was still pending,” Brown explains. “I still hoped that the Goldmans could be swayed from public outcry. Unfortunately this is not the case… I very much wanted to be on the show if I could have brought about a change for the positive but the Goldmans, Sharlene Martin the agent, and Eric Kampmann the publisher, have made sure that could not happen.”

Brown has scheduled a press conference at a hotel in Dana Point, Ca., later this afternoon to further clarify her remarks for the benefit of television news cameras. Her online petition against the book continues to be open for signatures and, as far as anybody knows, the show will still go on in Chicago without her.
