Debut Middle Grade Novel Sells One Million Copies

After 18 months on bookshelves, R.J. Palacio has sold one million copies of her debut middle grade novel, Wonder.

Random House’s Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers imprint published the book and executive editor Erin Clarke edited. Here’s more from the release:

The story of a fifth grader born with a facial deformity who attends mainstream school for the first time,WONDER resonated instantly with readers of all ages and has remained at the top of bestseller lists, including 80 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, with 36 weeks in the #No. 1 spot.

Palacio is the pen name for publishing pro Raquel Jaramillo. She recently left her post as Workman’s director of children’s publishing–taking a spot as editor-at-large.
