In an apparent coincidence, two long-delayed Doubleday books have returned to the fold this week.
Jon Krakauer’s long-delayed Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman will be published in September with an initial run of 600,000 copies. In a stranger publicity twist, director Ron Howard told the press that Dan Brown has finished his longer-delayed follow-up to The Da Vinci Code. Doubleday did not comment on the story.
On the set of another Brown adaptation, Howard told Entertainment Tonight that he hadn’t actually read the new novel but said Brown was “very excited” about the book. UPDATE: Doubleday issued an official statement: “We are pleased to report that Dan Brown is making great progress with his novel. We do not yet have a title or publication date to share.” Which may or may not confirm senior editor Ron Hogan‘s hypothesis:
