Curtis Brown Agency Launches Writing School

By Jason Boog

In May, the U.K. literary agency Curtis Brown will lead a three-month novel writing workshop for aspiring writers. The course costs £1,600 per student (roughly $2,520) and includes this possible benefit: “Stand-out students will be offered representation.”

The company has launched Curtis Brown Creative, a writing school within the agency. So far, two agents are listed as tutors: Anna Davis and Jake Arnott. They already have a Twitter page and Facebook page.

What do you think? Here’s more about the courses: “Through weekly evening workshops and individual mentoring sessions with 2 expert tutors, and through 5 one-off talks given by Curtis Brown agents, leading writers and top publishers, we will help 15 talented writers to produce distinctive, compelling novels … Every student will receive a detailed written critique of their novel-in-progress from a Curtis Brown literary agent at course-completion, and all workshops and one-off sessions will take place in our board room, at the heart of our business. ” (Via Publishers Lunch)
