Could Priest Adaptation Steal Justin Cronin’s Thunder?

By Jason Boog

When Justin Cronin scored a multimillion dollar advance for his vampire trilogy, The Passage, director Ridley Scott reportedly paid $1.75 million for the film rights. Could another vampire adaptation beat them to the post-apocalyptic punch?

In the video embedded above, you can watch a trailer for an upcoming adaptation of the graphic novel, Priest. The movie focuses on a similar war between vampires and humans. What do you think? Will Priest steal The Passage‘s thunder at the multiplex?

Here’s io9’s take on the Priest trailer: “Despite the copious amounts of silliness and the I Am Legend vampires, it must be said that there’s some nice imagery in this trailer. So in the dark post-apocalyptic future, the priests are the only ones who can protect us from the vampires — but they think the centuries-long war against the vampires is over… all except for Paul Bettany’s main character, who decides to go rogue in classic hero fashion.”
