Community Writing Site Protagonize Counts 10,000 Authors

protago.jpgA community-oriented writing site with a shoe-string budget counted 10,000 authors today, doubling in size in six months.

Protagonize is a site where members create Choose-Your-Own-Adventure-style fiction and build interactive stories. Earlier this year, it was one of the five finalists in the Community category. Founder Nick Bouton recorded the milestone in a post this afternoon. As digital reading grows in popularity, these community sites will be training grounds for the next generation of digital book authors.

Here’s more from the announcement: “While it took a little longer than I had hoped, that means the site has doubled in membership in just over six months (we hit 5,000 around April/May 2009). I’m hoping we can keep that kind of growth rate up, so please keep spreading the word to your friends and family.”
