Cheer Them On to Their Rivals

By Neal

For those of you who were wondering when we would get around to the second annual GalleyCat “Hotties of Publishing” poll, well, Gawker decided they’d host it this year, although they bent the rules more than a little by crowning two writers, Braxton Robbason and Lauren Rosati, instead of publishing industry professionals. We’d have given you advance warning, so you could crash the party where they found their talent pool, but we’re as surprised as you are. Of course, we had so much fun (and sufficient traffic) last year that it’s not hard to see why they decided to have a go at it, although one hopes there’s plenty of desks separating Emily and Josh at the compound. (Nevertheless, credit where credit is due: everything we know about post-ironic objectification of media professionals, we learned from Gawker before we even started here.)

But we’re still on for our other summer features, the day of cat photos and the day of dog photos! We just have to figure out when.
