Author and attorney Michael Ratner collaborated with Michael Steven Smith on a nonfiction book exploring the life of revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara.

OR Books will release Who Killed Che?: How the CIA Got Away with Murder on September 1st, Guevara’s 83rd birthday. Cuban National Assembly president Ricardo Alarcón wrote an introduction.

Ratner is the president of the Center for Constitutional Rights in New York City. He wrote The Prosecution of Donald Rumsfeld: A Prosecution by Book and co-authored The Pinochet Papers and Against War with Iraq and Guantánamo: What the World Should Know.

Here’s more from the release: “Referencing internal U.S. government documentation, much of it never before published, Ratner and Smith bring their forensic skills as attorneys to analyze the evidence and present an irrefutable case that the CIA not only knew of and approved the execution, but was instrumental in making it happen. Cables from the agency disavowing any U.S. role in the murder were merely attempts to provide plausible deniability for the Johnson administration.”
