Casey Kasem Narrates They Call Me Baba Booey Book Trailer

Legendary American Top 40 host Casey Kasem narrates the new book trailer for Gary Dell’Abate’s memoir, They Call Me Baba Booey. The trailer is embedded above.

Dell’Abate–a Howard Stern Show producer–landed a six-figure book deal for his memoir back in April. Kasem’s voice reminds this GalleyCat editor of a simpler time before compact discs and MP3s, back when the pop music scene was much less crowded. It also reminds us of Scooby-Doo. Kasem voiced the character Shaggy for 28 years.

Here’s more about the book: “Growing up on Long Island in the 1970s, the youngest of three boys born to a clinically depressed mother, Gary learned how to fend for himself when under attack.  Obsessed with music, he listened with religious intensity to Casey Kasem’s Top 40 every Sunday morning, compulsively bought 45s of his favorite songs, and nerdily copied the lyrics into a notebook. Music became an ordering principle to his life, even as the chaos at home got out of hand.”
