Cal Morgan Named Executive Editor at the Harper Division

We’ve had a number of job changes in the publishing world this week.

Cal Morgan will leave his post as publisher at HarperCollins’ It Books imprint to serve as senior vice president and executive editor at the Harper division. Morgan will continue on as editorial director for Harper Perennial and Harper paperbacks.

Throughout his career, he has worked on projects with several celebrity authors such as Amy PoehlerAlan Cumming, and Tom Piazza.

In addition, Lynn Grady has been named senior vice president and publisher of It Books. She also retains the position of deputy publisher for Morrow, Voyager, and Avon Books. Some of the titles she has acquired include Unsinkable by Debbie ReynoldsRoll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die by Willie Nelson, and The Billy Bob Tapes by Billy Bob Thornton.

Over at Simon & Schuster,  Doug Stambaugh will take on the newly-created role of vice president of global eBook market development and strategy.  Stambaugh had previously worked as vice president of business development. He has been with the company since 2007.

Over at the Simon & Schuster imprint, Julia Prosser has been promoted to deputy director of publicity.

Hachette Book Group’s Orbit division publisher (in the US) and  Little, Brown Book Group Orbit imprint publisher (in the UK) Tim Holman is headed back to the UK. The company memo explained: “He moved from London to New York in 2006, to help set up Orbit in the US.  From the UK, he will continue to oversee Orbit’s publishing programs in the US and UK and be making frequent trips to New York.”

Orbit’s UK editorial director Anne Clarke will move to New York to serve as deputy publisher, reporting to Holman to lead Orbit and Redhook imprints.  Holman continues to lead Yen Press.
