Borat Book Finally Lands at Flying Dolphin

borat.jpgIn what’s either one of the longest gestating book deals ever or another example of reporting delays, Dan Strone at Trident Media has finally placed a comedic advice book from Borat Sagdiyev (aka the now-infamous, movie-immortalized alter ego of British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen) with Suzanne Herz and Peter Gethers at Flying Dolphin Press. PW Daily reports that the forthcoming title, which is scheduled for publication on November 6,BORAT: TOURISTIC GUIDINGS TO MINOR NATION OF U.S. OF A and BORAT: TOURISTIC GUIDINGS TO GLORIOUS NATION OF KAZAKHSTAN.

According to Doubleday publicity director Alison Rich, both lengthy monikers will appear on the book’s cover jacket and the material will be new, not tied-in to the film. Intended as a faux tourist guide introducing Americans to Kazakhstan and vice versa, the book will feature photographs, text and illustrations. And clearly, the book wasn’t “too racy” for American publication, but it will be interesting to see if the Borat phenomenon still has legs a year after the smash hit movie took hold in the US.
