Booktrack, a tool designed for self-published writers and publishers to add soundtracks to their e-books, is now a Google for Education Partner and is offering its free Booktrack Classroom tool to schools.

Using the platform, students will have access to audio files created by authors. In addition, they’ll be able to record their own audio files and add them to their own essays and writing.

“Supporting education and working to increase student engagement with reading and writing is a core company value at Booktrack,” explained Booktrack CEO Paul Cameron, in a statement. “More than 12,000 classrooms around the world have already adopted Booktrack Classroom to help students improve their literacy and writing skills in a safe environment. The Google for Education Partner Program will help teachers and students discover the Booktrack Classroom tools to increase engagement for reading, creative writing, essays, novels and poetry studies.”

The company recently closed a Series B investment round of $5 million, having previously raised $3 million. The platform counts almost 2.5 million users.
