Booked: Tromadance Film Festival

By Jason Boog

trauma.jpgAfter hosting his independent Tromadance Film Festival in Park City for ten years, author and filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman has moved the festival to Asbury Park, New Jersey this weekend.

Read all the details here. The festival will include POULTRYGEIST: NIGHT OF THE CHICKEN DEAD and THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE. Kaufman is most well-known for directing The Toxic Avenger, a film that inspired his memoir: All I Need To Know About Filmmaking I Learned From The Toxic Avenger and his Toxic Avenger novel.

Here’s more about the annual festival: “Inspired by Trey Parker and founded in 2000 by Kaufman, TromaDance is the first film festival wholeheartedly devoted to filmmakers and fans. Unlike every other film festival, TromaDance does not charge filmmakers a fee to submit their films. Entrance to all screenings is free and open to the public. There are no VIP reservations and no preferential treatment of any kind is given regarding admission to films, panels, or parties. The organizers of TromaDance believe films are meant to be seen, especially when it comes to new filmmakers. Art, in all its forms, is for the people!” (Via Mondo Video)
