On Sunday, there is a pricey–though sure to be great–reading featuring John Irving (picture, via), Peter Carey and Edmund White. The event is at Idlewild Books and it will feature readings by each of the authors, as well as a signing and reception. (If that means Irving will be standing around making small talk about his guns, count us in!) The evening will benefit Adoption-Link, an organization founded by White’s sister to help place vulnerable children in good homes. According to the Idlewild website, “Peter Carey will read from his just-published book and John Irving and Edmund White will read from works in progress.” The event is $45, and there will be some food and refreshments.
