Book Deal for Popular Tumblr Blog

By Jason Boog

catswho.jpgLess than one day after the first Twitter hardcover was released, another popular microblogging site has secured a book deal. The founders of the Tumblr site, Pets Who Want to Kill Themselves, announced that they will write a book about pets wearing embarrassing clothing.

According to Gawker, the deal was negotiated by Kate Lee at ICM, who helped popular bloggers like Jeff Jarvis (“What Would Google Do?”) and Glenn Reynolds (“An Army of Davids”) score book deals.

The notice came in screaming caps: “CHILLAX BLOGOSPHERE, THE RUMORS ARE TRUE! PETSWHOWANTTOKILLTHEMSELVES: THE BLOG WILL SOON BE PETSWHOWANTTOKILLTHEMSELVES: THE BOOK. IN A RELATED STORY, LITERATURE IS DEAD. SO IF YOU WANT YOUR OVER-LOVED PETS FOREVER IMMORTALIZED, PLEASE SEND PHOTOS. I’VE ALREADY GOTTEN A BLURB FROM PHILIP ROTH PROCLAIMING IT A BOOK SO GOOD, IT’LL MAKE YOUR CAT SIT ON YOUR FACE.”
