BISG & ALA Team on Research

By Dianna Dilworth

The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) and the American Library Association (ALA) are teaming up to research how library users are adopting digital content.  This is the first time that the two organizations have done research together.

The Digital Content in Public Libraries project aims to identify how library patrons use the library and make use of the digital resources available. Here is more about the study from the press release:

In a comprehensive survey, library patrons will be asked about preferred device usage, preferences for print or digital formats, collection assessment, and other issues that affect the use and distribution of published content in public libraries.

Nielsen is also providing insights into the research and Publishers Weekly will provide editorial insight. The results of the research will be announced at the American Library Association’s Annual Conference in San Francisco in June and a printed report will go on sale in September.
