By Maryann Yin Comment

Beverly Cleary (GalleyCat)On April 12, Beverly Cleary will celebrate her 100th birthday. She recently sat for an interview with The Today Show.

During the conversation, Jenna Bush Hager asked Cleary (pictured, via) this question: “What are you most proud of?” She replied: “The fact that children love my books.”

Some of the authors who name Cleary an inspiration include Kate DiCamillo, two-time Newbery Medal winner, and Judy Blume, the author of Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. Both DiCamillo and Blume wrote forewords for two new editions of Cleary’s books which were released by HarperCollins earlier this year. (via BuzzFeed)
