Beacon Press Opens Audio Imprint

By Dianna Dilworth

Beacon Press has launched an audiobook imprint called Beacon Press Audio.

The new division will be led by audio publisher Cliff Manko, who will also continue to remain as CFO of the publisher. Audio director Melissa Nasson, Beacon’s contracts director, will also work on the new audio imprint.

Starting this fall, Beacon will simultaneously publish audiobook editions of select new titles. The first book to hit the imprint is The World in Flames:  A Black Boyhood in a White Supremacist Doomsday Cult, a memoir by Jerald Walker. The imprint will also release backlist audiobooks from the likes of James Baldwin and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., among others. Beacon’s audiobooks will be distributed through Penguin Random House.
