Industrial designer Matali Crasset has created a striking beach library, a little bit of literary support for French beachgoers.
The pop-up library counts more than 350 books and an innovative design to both attract and provide shade for readers on the beach. The PSFK blog has more about the library:
The selection of books available includes novels which are favorites of the designer, that she chose to help her clarify the intent of the project. They include: “The Poetics of Space” by Gaston Bachelard and ‘Eat Me’ by Agnes Desarthes. Called ‘Bibliothèque de Plage’, the simple structure is made of tarpaulin draped over a steel frame and can be found on the shores of La Romaniquette in Istres, France.
