Batman No. 1 Discovered in Dresser

batman.jpgAfter discovering a rare comic lodged in a dresser drawer, Alaskan comic enthusiast Mike Wheat will auction his copy of Batman No. 1. According to experts, it should earn about $40,000 at auction. Out of the 500,000 originally printed, only 300 survive today.

The Christian Science Monitor has the story: “It was hidden — along with two other comic books — in the stuck drawer of a secondhand dresser sold for $25 to a Fairbanks, Alaska, businessman in the early 1970s. The buyer owned the dresser for some years before he loosened the drawer and discovered the comics, which he then sold to Wheat for $300.”

Just last week, GalleyCat reported about another famous comic hero, Superman–the Man of Steel provided heroism of a fiscal nature. A family discovered an rare copy of Action Comics No. 1 in a basement, avoiding foreclosure with the lucky find.
