Barnes & Noble Nook Color Lets Readers Sample Entire eBook with Read In Store Feature

By Jason Boog

When Barnes & Noble unveiled the $249 Nook Color today, it launched with a feature that can leverage both the bookseller’s digital footprint and its brick-and-mortar stores.

Readers can visit the physical bookstores and actually read some books for free inside the store–a digital version of the bookstore browsing experience. Amazon and Apple can’t offer this same brick-and-mortar experience with books.  What do you think about this feature?

Here’s more from the release: “Visit any Barnes & Noble store with your NOOK in hand and read entire NOOKbooks for FREE for up to one hour per day with our innovative Read In Store feature. Also get exclusive content from top authors and great offers on books and café treats with our More In Store feature.”

eBookNewser highlighted another reading-focused feature: “You can share a passage with friends with Facebook, Twitter, or ‘Nook Friends Circle.'”
