Barnes & Noble Launches Local Initiative

By Jason Boog

barnes-noble-logo.jpgFollowing the lead of newspapers around the country, Barnes & Noble has launched a local bookseller blog program–bucking the chain’s corporate, national image with local dispatches.

At the “Blogging Booksellers” page, readers can visit stores around the country, getting personalized video recommendations from employees. In one video, Melissa from the Eden Prairie, Minnesota store gave some national attention to local book, Nicole Lea Helget’s debut novel, “The Turtle Catcher.”

Here’s more from Publishers Weekly: “Blogging Booksellers currently features 11 bloggers in nine cities and more will be added. The bloggers are creating short videos, updated weekly, filmed with Flip cameras.”
