As news broke of an imprint merger at Random House today, the conglomerate publisher announced that Bantam Dell publisher Nita Taublib will be leaving the company. She will serve as a consultant until June, helping set up the newly formed Ballantine Bantam Dell unit.
For almost 30 years, Taublib has worked with an amazing list of authors, including: Tami Hoag, Lisa Gardner, Lee Child, and George R. R. Martin. In 1999, the NY Times interviewed the then-deputy publisher about her work with novelist Iris Johansen.
Here’s more from the memo about Taublib’s departure: “Nita has an enviable combination of editorial wisdom–that innate sense of what readers want to read–with great management skills and a talent for nurturing her authors and her staff. When Bantam Dell became part of the Random House Publishing Group fifteen months ago, Nita was invaluable in bringing the groups together. She has graciously agreed to continue with us through June as a consultant to assist us during this transition.”
