Awards Week Continues with PEN USA

Though the actual ceremony won’t take place till December 12 at the Beverly Hills Hotel, PEN USA, the West Coast center for the renowned writers’ organization International PEN, has unveiled the winners of its prestigious 2006 Literary Awards competition. Percival Everett wins the fiction award for WOUNDED (Graywolf), Michael Chorost gets the Creative Nonfiction prize for REBUILT (Houghton Mifflin) and Brian Turner wins the poetry honor for HERE, BULLET (Alice James Books) to name some of the notables. As well, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Pulitzer-Prize winning novelist and journalist Jane Smileyand Bob Shaye, Co-Chairman and Co- CEO of New Line Cinema, will receive the Award of Honor.
