Authors Join Fight Against Brexit

By Dianna Dilworth

John le Carré, Kathy Lette, and Philip Pullman are among authors who have joined the fight against the U.K. leaving the EU.

In an open letter sent to legislators, hundreds of creative professionals from actors to authors, are calling on the government to reject a proposal in which Britain would leave the European Union. The letter points out that the EU represents 56 percent of the U.K. creative industries’ markets. Here is an excerpt from the letter:

From the smallest gallery to the biggest blockbuster, many of us have worked on projects that would never have happened without vital EU funding or by collaborating across borders. Britain is not just stronger in Europe, it is more imaginative and more creative, and our global creative success would be severely weakened by walking away.
